Vero Beach has its own Baseball Stadium –The Holman Stadium - Dodgertown . The Dodgers arrived in Vero Beach in 1948 as a result of an invitation from local businessman Bud Holman, after whom the Dodgertown stadium is now named. It is best known as the spring training facility for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Baseball is now played in Vero Beach throughout the summer. McKee Botanical Garden – known for its 18 acre subtropical jungle.
Open all year round the McKee Botanical Garden is a non-profit cultural organization located at the southern gateway to Vero Beach, Florida. The garden is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a historic Florida landmark. It has been endorsed by the Garden Conservancy as a project of National Significance and received the Florida Trust’s Outstanding Landscape Architecture’ in 2002. Saddle Club The saddle Club is located on a 50 acre site to the south of The Polo Grounds. While polo will be a predominant activity, there are other equestrian activities and full service boarding. There are facilities for dressage, hunter/jumper, trail and pleasure riding. Release of Loggerhead Sea Turtle. This Loggerhead sea turtle being released in Sebastian Inlet State Park, is just one of the many turtles taking part in the TED programme, which tests excluder devices in commercial fishing equipment to ensure sea turtles are able to escape if caught. Sebastian Inlet State Park The premier saltwater fishing spot on Florida’s east coast, Sebastian Inlet State Park is a favourite for anglers nationwide. A popular surfing area, the park hosts several major competitions each year. Two museums provide a history of the area, and 3 miles of pristine beaches provide swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling shelling and sunbathing. The Indian River Lagoon is ideal for canoeing and kayaking, or visitors can take a ranger-led cruise by Pelican Island, the first national wildlife refuge in the United States.
